Some of the DVD releases I enjoy:
A Bronx Tale
Written by Chazz Palminteri, with De Niro in the lead, it's no surprise we ended up with
a high-quality flick. This is a coming-of-age tale set in 1960s-70s
New York City. The feeling is so authentic that De Niro, who played a bus driver, was actually
featured in a recent MTA ad campaign. This movie also lays out the mission critical
lock test. If you have missed out so far, put down your copy of
Godfather
for a minute and give this classic a spin.
Latter Days
Despite some light-hearted, comedic moments this movie is romantic drama
designed to inspire critical thinking. Steve Sansvoss and Wes Ramsey both
put on spectacular performances in this tale of a boy who falls for the
missionary-worker-next-door. Joseph Gordon-Levitt fails to disappoint, as always, yet you
might find yourself as shocked as I was to see in a role which deviates so greatly
from his more typical friendly and down-to-earth parts. This emotional
thriller comes in both an R and unrated version.
Dazed and Confused
If you're in the mood for something light and fun this is a good pick. This is
centered around the last day of high school in a suburban town. Some students come to grips with moving
up to senior status; all unite for some beers. Great performance by Parker Pose.
